Healthcare Software Development

Healthcare software development services built privacy-first.

Hoop Interactive builds patient apps, telehealth platforms, booking systems and care team tools for clinics, digital health startups and wellness brands. HIPAA safeguards, EHR integration and accessibility are designed in from the first sprint, not bolted on before launch.

Why Healthcare Is Different

Healthcare software carries more weight than most.

A booking bug in retail costs a sale. In healthcare it can cost a missed appointment, a privacy breach or a clinician’s time. That changes how software has to be designed, built and tested.

Our approach: privacy, interoperability and accessibility decided in discovery, then tested every sprint.

01
Protected health information
Every screen, log and backup that touches PHI needs encryption, access control and an audit trail.
02
Systems that must talk
EHRs, labs, billing and pharmacies need standard integrations, not spreadsheets.
03
Clinicians are short of time
Tools have to save minutes per patient, not add clicks.
04
Patients of every ability
Older users, low vision and stressful moments need accessible, calm design.
HIPAA, Honestly

There’s no such thing as “HIPAA-certified” software.

Many vendors call themselves a “HIPAA-compliant software development company”. A badge can’t give you an official certification (there isn’t one), compliance just because the cloud is “HIPAA-eligible”, safety from tracking pixels sending visit data to ad platforms, or protection if staff access isn’t controlled and logged. Here’s what we actually build in.

Encryption
In transit and at rest for all PHI.
Access control
Role-based access, MFA and automatic session timeouts.
Audit logs
A record of who viewed or changed patient data.
BAA hosting
HIPAA-eligible hosting under a signed BAA.
Privacy-safe analytics
Configured so PHI never reaches ad platforms.
Documentation
Written for your compliance officer to review.

QalbSync helps users build and track daily habits. LetsPut serves children, so we enforced privacy in the database itself with private viewer access and strict roles — the same approach we apply to patient data.

Core Tracking Modules

QalbSync needed one app, not two separate builds, that could track multiple habit types, visualize progress across weekly, monthly, and yearly views, and handle a complete account lifecycle from onboarding to account deletion. We built it in Flutter, designed the full visual identity, and handled discoverability through mobile app marketing and ASO.

Healthcare software questions

About our healthcare software development services. Ask us anything else.

A healthcare discovery and compliance blueprint starts from $5,000. A patient app, portal or telehealth MVP starts from $25,000, and platforms with EHR integration, remote monitoring or multiple user roles from $50,000. Hosting and third-party services are billed to your own accounts.

There is no official HIPAA certification for software. Compliance depends on how the software is built and how your organisation operates it. We build in the technical safeguards HIPAA requires, such as encryption, access controls and audit logs, host on HIPAA-eligible services under a business associate agreement, and document everything for your compliance team.

When we will access protected health information during development or support, we sign a business associate agreement. Wherever possible we work with de-identified or synthetic data so real patient data never needs to leave your environment.

Yes. We integrate through HL7 FHIR APIs and SMART on FHIR where the EHR supports them, and through vendor APIs or HL7 v2 interfaces where needed. The options depend on your EHR vendor and contract, which we review in discovery.

Yes. We build telehealth apps with booking, secure video through HIPAA-eligible video providers, intake forms, messaging, e-prescribing integrations where needed, and payments.

Yes, for tasks such as appointment assistants, intake summaries, patient FAQs and documentation support, with a clinician always in control. We avoid diagnostic features unless the product has a regulatory plan, and we only use AI services that support the privacy terms healthcare data requires.

Most wellness, booking and administrative apps do not. Software that diagnoses, treats or makes clinical decisions may be regulated as Software as a Medical Device. We flag this early and recommend regulatory counsel when a feature may cross that line.

A patient app or telehealth MVP usually takes 12 to 20 weeks, including security reviews. EHR integrations and multi-role platforms take longer, and we plan them in phases.

Yes. Wellness, habit and fitness apps have lighter regulatory requirements than clinical software, and we have built them, including the QalbSync habit-tracking app.
